What's on our Needles?

Pattern: Winterlight by Meg Gadsbey

Yarn: Poema Cashmere by Laines du Nord

Winterlight is a reversible asymmetric triangular shawl, knitted on the bias, increasing outwards from one top corner of the triangle. Mesh lace sections, interspersed with cosy garter stitch and textural broken rib sections, create a shawl with visual interest and a soft fabric that drapes beautifully.

The long washes of gradient color in the Poema Cashmere flow perfectly with this pattern.

Yarn: Big Merino Wool by Juniper Moon Farm

The Misty Mountains Baby Blanket is knit with a bulky weight yarn for a faster knit and extra squish factor. The bobbles, garter, and seed stitch chevrons lend this blanket tons of interesting texture for the curious child.

Merry Christmas

It’s that time of year — time for shopping, parties, and celebrating. Time to snuggle up with a cozy knitting or crochet project. And yes… time to spend a little time with us at the shop!

We’d love for you to join us for our Bayou Yarn Shoppe Christmas Open House on Tuesday, December 9th (4pm - 6pm). Come enjoy holiday cheer, inspiration for your next project, and a warm community of fellow yarn lovers who feel like family. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or you’ve just picked up your first skein, we’re grateful for you and the creativity you bring to our little corner of the crafting world.

Thank you for supporting your local yarn shop this year. We hope this season brings you peace, joy, and plenty of soft, squishy yarn to create something beautiful.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,

Kitty, Linda, Mary & Leslie

The balloon sleeves are the fashion statement in this easy-fit sweater. The pattern uses Haunui Silk as the main yarn and incorporates Noro’s new yarn, Rittou, into the slip stitch pattern on the sleeves and tipping around the neckband.

There are several of us who are working on this sweater and it is alot of fun and is going very well! If you would like to join us, stop by soon to get your yarn.

Pattern: Wildhorse by Jessica McDonald

Yarn: Coastline by Jody Long

From Ravelry.com: "Simplicity and squishy garter stitch combine to make the coziest cardigan you will ever knit. Effortless columns of garter stitch worked along the raglan lines are mirrored in the garter rib stitch worked at the sleeve cuffs and hem. A generous garter stitch collar is perfect for snuggling into on cold days. Wildhorse is knit seamlessly from the top down and uses German Short Rows to shape the shawl collar."
